Yes what I mean get past Roscommon our bogey team over the last few years and surely that in itself will inspire the lads to kick on and hopefully take a bit of silverware from head office , just what the doctor ordered for our trip to Donegal later on,easier to build on a winning mentality,

did i hear correctly that young phillips is out with a serious injury ? I hope not because he for me has been outstanding for us this year from the first game on the 3G in january till the Cork match , spiritof97 (Cavan) - Posts: 36 - 15/03/2018 10:06:59 2084695 Link 0 |

Bad elbow injury I hear suffered in training but so far McGlennan only commented that he would miss the Down game so not sure

Roscommon on Sunday are without three first choice defenders in Sean Mullooly,Niall McInerney and John McManus and key players such as Ultan Harney, Enda Smith and Conor Daly aren't fit enough to start. In form Cavan won't get many better chances than this Sunday to beat their "bogey" team. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3492 - 15/03/2018 19:53:08 2084813 Link 0 |
They are in the same boat as Cavan who look like they will be missing Philips, Murray and Clarke with Mackey still not fit enough to start.

I don't think Philips and Murray are first choice? they are given a run in the team to see can they hold their own. Clarke returned from injury the last day didn't he and was a starter in other games? and Mackey seems to used as impact sub nowadays the same as Cathal Cregg with Roscommon.

They have been first choice more or less, Killian has a hamstring injury and McGlennan said in the paper this week that he might miss Sunday. We are playing a bit looser this year and I fear that if it comes to a shootout the Rossies have too much firepower, hope to be proved completely wrong....

Murray is first choice and Philips had put himself into the poisition of first choice.

Murray probably being our best player over last few years. Mackey not an impact player if being brought on early in game rathet than late. Just improving fitness bit by bit. Poor Philips with injury after making a position for himself. doratheexplorer (Cavan) - Posts: 1467 - 16/03/2018 16:18:07 2084945 Link 0 |
Team to play Roscommon on Sunday: TheBlackDeath (Cavan) - Posts: 74 - 16/03/2018 19:44:07 2084970 Link 0 |
Any reason why Galligan isn't starting in goals? Thought he played really well and pulled off some good saves against Down. Roscommon are a good attacking side and create a lot of chances, so a decent shot-stopper between the sticks would be handy to have. Is Farrelly better in that regard does anyone know? In other news, good to see Cathedral Road in Cavan strongly represented with three of my neighbours on the team sheet! Called rotating goalkeepers lads. We have done the same with our keepers. ispeakwisdom (Roscommon) - Posts: 2487 - 16/03/2018 21:14:33 2084983 Link 0 |
Farrelly is the better shot stopper. Galligan has the better kick out. Not much between them and Mattie is right to give both game time. cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5195 - 17/03/2018 09:30:10 2085030 Link 0 |
Galligan great hands and shot stopping has improved.

Good luck to the boys tomorrow. I've a sneaky suspicion we might pip it. However I think killian starting is key to this. Ros look dodgy at fb and we should have edge in the middle if gearoid is roaming around there. Obviously their inside forwards are very good and if they get on a lot of ball we will be in bother. Still think we can win it.

Wit reference to the goal keepers the real advantage is that Galligan can score long range frees and in fairness made three great point blank saves last week these details cannot be ignored. With respect to Farrelly I feel Galligan would get the nod for me. Cork now gone out of the equation It's between the top three Tipp Cavan and Roscommon so a win tomorrow we are promoted a loss and a win for Tipp and Roscommon all would be on 9 points and score differences come into play. Good luck tomorrow Sunday the 18th March 2018 make it a memorable day. The Quiet Man (Cavan) - Posts: 4601 - 17/03/2018 23:25:11 2085176 Link 0 |
