Best of luck to the team this evening. Any reason why the Gowna man is not starting in the corner? I also note that Niall Murray is not back in contention.

Well Done Cavan. That was a tough match and one that could have easily been lost but we played well. Good use of the bench again by the mgmt. Galligan sound in goals and nailed crucial 45. Martin Reilly consistently good. Caoimhin looked the part again. Down were dangerous though and caused us lots of problems. We didn't deal very well with their kickouts. will be interesting now against arguably the 2 best teams in the division.

Imagine the possibility that a manager from outside the county might take us to Div 1.? The same Manager could or even might beat Donegal away in the 1st round of the championship.
The canonisation of TH must surely now be put on hold.!!
Note to Mattie......... your only in your 2nd year! Amazing job your doing there! And yes you were right.. S J can still play a bit. Form is temporary . Class is permanent!

Well done to Mattie and team. Another excellent 3 points against a team who were well up for it and desperate for points. Hopefully Clare might do us a favour against Roscommon today.

2 points Fredflint but we understand.
Should results go as expected today it will be an interesting run in. Cavan cannot afford to lose their last two games so still a lot at stake.
At least the pressure is now off regarding relegation the ball is in their own court now to finish the job.

Great stuff from the lads so far.

Our performance was lacking in certain areas, Gearoid is not a full forward, he's not a back to goal player, he's more effective running from midfield and taking the pass off the shoulder. So we'll need to get him fit enough and move him back to the middle of the park.

I think our forwards took too much out of the ball at times, I'm not sure that CHF suits Moynagh.

Martin Reilly and Mackey, two superb servants to Cavan football and still going strong. Mackey in particular, always looks assured on the ball.

Galligan, top class in the goals last night, kept us in the game at crucial times. Solid under the high ball.

Overall, it's great to be top of the pile, and we have two tough games coming up to test us nicely for Donegal. I do fear for our back line against Tipp, because we did get exposed a couple of times last night and Galligan saved us. Tipp have Sweeney and Quinlivan in there who are both top players.

Great result last night. Cavan were average throughout the game but some of our leaders stood up last night. Gearoid was outstanding through periods and really kept Cavan ticking when we needed it most. The three subs coming on kicking 5 points between them were immense and I must say Johnston really showed what a great brain he has. Another moment that stood out and showed the appetite was Mc veety running 40 yards to take a kick out from galligan when the pressure was really on. Cavan will be under no illusion that there's work to be done and winning a game last night in the manner they did is encouraging. There did tend to be a looseness at the back and our sweeper wasn't always positioned well. We conceded a lot of cheap kickouts especially in the second half. But overall. It was 2 points knowing there's work to be done. It's an ideal position to be in

Congratulations to all on another great result. Two bites at the cherry now for promotion so couldn't have worked out better so far. Good to see some tough questions finally asked of the team. Down's survival was on the line so wouldn't have expected anything less than a fight. We rode our luck and struggled at times but we had the right answers at the most critical time which is encouraging. Players and management will have lots to ponder over after that performance which again is good and should help sharpen the focus on the next game. Roscommon simply cannot afford to lose next week and have had the better of us over the last few years so really expect us to be up for it and really looking forward to it.

Will Roscommon take the goal chances that Down missed last night. This will be a big game for to win means promotion to lose means we will have to take at least a point and that does not guarantee promotion depending on how other games pan out. All those with a chance of promotion won this weekend.

We missed 4 clearcut goal chances today against Clare , Sean , so we will need to be a lot more clinical against yere boys. This is set up as a championship match which I think both teams will be delighted with. An awful lot at stake and I think our recent record against ye will have hurt and ye wont lack for motivation next Sunday. Both teams and more critically squads have improved since this time last year and will be interesting to see who has advanced the most as Sunday next will tell the story , no one will be holding back.
May the best team win and welcome back to the Hyde.

Good performance on Saturday night. Gearoid McKiernan pulled us through when we needed him to step up. Cian Mackey made a big difference, while Sean Johnston showed his class after he came on. Of the newcomers I thought Caoimhin O'Reilly showed up well (despite not getting much quality ball) and Adrian Cole functioned well as a target man when introduced. Brian Magee was disappointing, and the full back line were run ragged at times. The game could have gone either way; Down missed a lot of great goal chances, especially mid-way through the second half when the game was in the balance.

All in all, it sets us up well for promotion and a league final appearance. Big improvement needed, however, if we are going to get far in the Ulster Championship.

Yes two important games ahead and as it stand we need to win one of them. They are in the same boat of course for they also have to win so many way's to miss out on promotion so one game at a time and stop thinking about promotion and league final appearances.
If you look at the table if results went against us say Tip beat us we would be on 9 along with tip on head to head they would be ahead of us as well as on score difference should it come to that.
potentially
each of the following can reach this total but this changes next week after the results of all. Cavan might not even have to worry the Tip match please god.
Cavan 11
Tip 11
Ros 11
Cork 10
So big pressure on everyone and it will test the character of all the teams over the next two weeks.

Folks

Let's take it a game at a time. We are in a better place than most could have imagined back in January when the ball was thrown in Ennis at the start of Round 1. The game against Roscommon is great preparation for the summer ahead. After yesterday, we are guaranteed to finish in the top 4 in the Division and a win next Sunday gets us across the line.

It does not go on points difference, it goes on head-to-head so if Roscommon beat cavan, and finish level on points, Roscommon will finish ahead of cavan on head-to-head regrdless of how the score difference is. If Roscommon win their remaining games and Cavan beat tipp in the last game Ros and cavan will be promoted.

Yes just what I am saying as well but great that we are in a safe position and it's in our own hands not anyone else's for promotion. But it shows the two teams relegated last term can come right back up so the year in Division 1 does help regardless of what people say.

I think he meant that points difference comes into play if 3 teams finish level.

Anyway, we have 2 cracks at the whip here. One more win and we're back in Division 1. Tipp and Roscommon each need 2 wins to guarantee promotion.

Yes Cavanman for head to head only applies with two teams score difference with three teams if it comes to that.

But best not to be thinking this way only way to make sure is either draw booth games or win one.
