Newly-crowned Fermanagh senior football champions Erne Gaels have been congratulated on their success in the Northern Ireland Assembly.
Managed by Donegal legend Declan Bonner, the Belleek outfit defeated Enniskillen Gaels by 1-13 to 1-9 on Saturday to end a 43-year wait for the New York Cup.
“This is the first time the New York Cup has been in Belleek since 1981,” Belleek native and Fermanagh South Tyrone MLA Jemma Dolan said.
“But we don’t just celebrate a trophy. We celebrate the heart, grit, and relentless spirit of our players. Every training session, every sacrifice, and every ounce of energy poured into this season was for this moment - and they have made us all so, so proud.
"I want to thank the coaches, the backroom staff, the volunteers, and of course, the loyal fans. It shows what’s possible when we stand together as a community. You’ve made history, and you’ve given us all a moment we will never forget."
