Kildare are set to face Dublin in the Leinster U20 football championship final after both sides came through their respective semi-finals last night.
Goals in either half proved key as Kildare overcame Offaly by 2-11 to 0-15 in Tullamore to advance to the provincial decider.
Daniel Lynam’s strike in the 13th minute had the Lilywhites in the driving-seat until the hosts wiped away a four-point deficit to leave themselves level by the break (0-8 to 1-5).
Offaly moved two in front after the turnaround but Aaron Browne’s goal restored the lead for Kildare and in the 10 minutes remaining, they’d hold out for victory.
In Parnell Park, Dublin found their goal scoring touch to defeat neighbours Meath on a 4-12 to 1-14 score-line.
Ryan O’Dwyer, Adam Waddick and Luke Breathnach netted the first-half majors that saw the home side take in a commanding 3-7 to 0-4 lead at the interval.
Breathnach hammered in his second goal after the turnaround and while Eoghan Frayne pulled one back for the Royals, the Dubs comfortably advanced to next Thursday’s final against Kildare at O’Moore Park, Portlaoise (throw-in 7.30pm).
