There is profound sadness in Derry GAA circles at the sudden passing of Daniel Mullan.

A former footballer with St Canice’s, Dungiven and hurler with Kevin Lynch’s, the father-of-one was a coach with St Canice’s who described him as ‘a true Dungiven Gael’.

In a heartfelt tribute, the club said: “The committee, players and members of St Canice's GAC Dungiven are deeply saddened to hear of the tragic and untimely passing of Daniel.

“Daniel was a former player and coach with St Canice’s and represented the club with great pride throughout his underage and senior playing career and was a dedicated coach. He was a passionate supporter after his playing days, loved everything about his club and was a true Dungiven Gael.

“He was a much-loved brother of former players Ciaran, Sean, Conor, Cahir, Brian, and Brendan and uncle to a large number of nephews and nieces who currently play or have played for the club.

“Our sincere condolences go out to Daniel’s partner Amber and son Jasper, his Mum Rosaleen and siblings Ciaran, Patricia, Geraldine, Sean, Conor, Cahir, Brian, Martin, Brendan and Leanne. We extend our extreme sympathy to the entire Mullan family circle at this difficult time.May he rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Kevin Lynch’s Hurling Club added: “We are saddened to learn of the passing of former underage player Daniel Mullan.
