Armagh county board has made a late call to postpone its senior football championship final this afternoon.

Clann Éireann and Clan na Gael were scheduled to clash for the Gerry Fagan Cup at the Box-It Athletic Grounds at 4.15pm following the Orchard County’s intermediate decider between Carrickcuppen and St Paul’s Lurgan, which went ahead and saw the former winning by 2-9 to 1-11.

However, the decision was taken to call off the senior showpiece at short notice (just half an hour before the scheduled throw-in time) after scaffolding at the venue was blown over by strong gusts of wind.

This afternoon’s Derry senior hurling championship final between Banagher and Slaughtneil in Owenbeg (4pm) has also been called off due to  poor weather conditions and now rescheduled for 2pm next Saturday.

It means that nine of today's senior county finals across the country have now been postponed as a result of Storm Ashley.
