Laois ratify McNulty for another year

Justin McNulty has been reappointed Laois senior football manager.

The 2002 Armagh SFC winner’s name was the only one brought before this week’s county board meeting where he was ratified along with selectors Ross Munnelly and Diarmuid Carroll for an unspecified period of time. McNulty’s second stint as O’Moore County boss officially ended after last June’s Tailteann Cup quarter-final defeat to Down, but he now remains at the helm for a fourth year at least.

The meeting also rubber stamped the appointments of Mark Bates and former sharpshooter Chris Conway as Laois’ new U20 and minor managers. A former minor manager who is currently in charge of Courtwood, Bates will have Robert Flynn (Courtwood) and Niall Corbet (Clonaslee St Manmans) as his U20 selectors.

An All-Ireland MFC and Leinster SFC winner in 1996 and 2003 respectively, Conway served as a Laois senior selector under Billy Sheehan a few years ago and also led Knockbeg College to Hogan Cup glory in 2005.
