Killian Sampson’s 66th minute goal proved key for Offaly this afternoon as they halted Antrim’s late charge to retain the Leinster senior hurling championship status for next season.

It finished 3-15 to 1-16 at Glenisk O'Connor Park, where the visitors had to play most of the game with 14 men following Niall O’Connor’s early dismissal and, having trailed from the moment Brian Duignan’s shot found the net in the second minute, Davy Fitzgerald’s side would get back to within a point thanks to James McNaughton’s goal in the 65th minute.

Less than a minute later however, this well-taken goal from Sampson (watch it below) killed the Saffrons momentum as Offaly won out by five in the end and demoted their opponents to Joe McDonagh Cup status for 2026.
