Erne Gaels Belleek secured back-to-back Fermanagh senior football championship titles by defeating Derrygonnelly Harps on a 1-12 to 1-9 scoreline at Brewster Park.

Declan Bonner’s side produced a late rally seven days ago to deny the Harps (2-14 to 0-20), forcing this evening’s replay decider in Enniskillen.

They trailed by 0-2 to 0-1 before ‘Man of the Match’ Ultan Kelm fired in a low shot past Jack Kelly for the game’s first goal in the 10th minute and, from there, they dominated up until half-time.

The scores of Jack McCann, Oisin Kelm and Ultan Kelm helped the holders towards a 1-9 to 0-4 interval lead and Shane Rooney’s point would put nine between the sides two minutes into the resumption.

The Harps got scores back through Mickey Jones and Rory Smyth (two-pointer) ahead of Leigh Jones taking a pass from Conor Burns and crashing the ball to the Erne Gaels’ net in the 39th minute.

Aidan Duffy’s score made it a two-point game ahead of Seamus Ryder settling some nerves for the Belleek contingent with a timely point and Aogan Kelm eventually firing over what proved to be the insurance score as Erne Gaels retained the coveted New York Gold Cup.
