Erne Gaels Belleek came from five points late on down to earn a 2-14 to 0-20 draw against Derrygonnelly Harps in this evening’s Fermanagh senior football championship final at Brewster Park.

Seamus Ryder’s point deep in injury-time ensured the sides must meet again to decide where the New York Gold Cup will rest this winter, with Erne Gaels having come close to relinquishing their title here before some late heroics in Enniskillen.

Declan Bonner’s side had fallen 0-4 to 0-1 behind early on in the decider before Aogan Kelm struck a remarkable goal (watch it below) on 11 minutes to bring the sides level.

The Harps pushed ahead again though, with 'Man of the Match' Gary McKenna sending over back-to-back two-pointers and Conall Rasdale tapping over a free to move the 2023 champions towards a 0-10 to 1-4 interval lead.

Ultan Kelm and Shane Rooney raised white flags for the holders inside the opening five minutes of the restart to make it a one-point game, but Derrygonnelly got motoring again.

Shane McGullion’s point was backed up by a McKenna free and a Michael Duffy two-pointer ahead of Jarlath Flanagan shooting over and ‘keeper Jack Kelly finding his range with a free from beyond the arc to make it 0-19 to 1-11 with five minutes left in normal time.

Crucially, the next score saw Erne Gaels taking max profit as Ryder found Paul Ward inside for the net and Ryan Lyons’s superb point would leave one it down the home stretch.

McKenna (free) pushed Derrygonnelly two ahead once more prior to a Rooney free and Ryder’s last gasp point snatching a draw for Bonner’s men.
