Carnew 2-12 St. Patrick's 1-5 Carnew Emmets easily defeated St. Patrick's in the Wicklow senior hurling championship final replay at Aughrim on Saturday October 19th, and claimed their 16th ever title. Carnew stormed into the lead early on and led 2-4 to 0-2 at half-time thanks to goals by Vinny Mulroe and Collins. However St. Patrick's came out fighting in the second half and a goal by Michael O'Brien closed the gap to four points midway through. But Carnew halted their progress by gaining control of the midfield area with Gary Doran putting in a mtach winning performance. Points by Joe Murphy and Don Hyland quickly followed as St. Patrick's challenge soon faded away. Tweet
