St Eunan’s are Donegal senior football champions for the second time in four years after battling past Dungloe for a 1-13 to 1-10 victory at MacCumhaill Park.

The Letterkenny side finished with a flourish at the Ballybofey venue to secure their 16th SFC crown which now sees them move one ahead of Gaoth Dobhair (15) on the roll of honour list in the Tir Chonaill County.

The sides had served a low-scoring opening half, which ended 0-4 to 0-4, before Conor O’Donnell jnr rattled the Dungloe net five minutes into the second-half.

Playing in their first SFC final in 60 years, Dungloe recovered well from the blow to get back within a point and, after falling three behind again, they’d win a penalty on the hour mark which Ryan Connors expertly converted to make it 1-10 apiece.

With the coveted Dr Maguire Cup up for grabs, St Eunan’s kept their cool in injury-time to send over points O’Donnell Jr, Ciaran Moore and Eoin McGeehin to ensure their triumph.
