More than 3,000 days have passed since Ballygunner last tasted defeat in the Waterford senior hurling championship.
The Gunners triumphed to their 10th consecutive senior crown in the Deise County last Sunday after defeating De La Salle by 2-26 to 0-21 at Walsh Park.
Peter Hogan and Pauric Mahony netted the holders’ goals in the first-half as they went on to record the 11-point victory that marks a 53-match unbeaten run in the Waterford SHC.
The success eclipses the previous nine-in-a-row records held by Erins Own and Mount Sion in Waterford and this week saw the Gunners’ unbeaten record in the county SHC spanning over 3,000 days, having lost their last game in the competition to De La Salle back in 2015.
