Clare’s 2024 football prospects have been hit by the news that Eoin Cleary is taking a break from the inter-county scene.
The Miltown Malbay clubman, who has been one of the top footballers in the country over the past decade, is getting married at the end of the December and admitted that Colm Collins’ recent departure as manager was a factor in his decision to take a year out.
“It is something I have been thinking about over a number of years and to be honest, it was Colm really that kept drawing me back,” he told the Irish Mail on Sunday.
“I am taking the year out now, but I am not closing the door to my inter-county career by any means.”
TweetThanks to Michael Clifford for his time in doing a piece for yesterdays @irishdailymail
