Daithi Regan has resigned after just four months in charge of Offaly club side Shamrocks.
The Offaly hurling legend took the unusual step of announcing his departure on GAA Late Night - the Championship phone-in show from OTB on Twitter Spaces, which is a new feature that allows users to have live audio conversations on the platform.
Shamrocks is a dual club based in Rahan / Mucklagh and Regan cited player welfare issues as his reason for stepping down less than a week before his former charges are due to play in a Division 3 League final.
TweetRegan says the Shamrocks’ hurling management team ‘very reluctantly’ stepped down over player welfare.

Felt their dual players were being over-trained by the football team and there was too much of a toll ahead of their upcoming hurling league final. https://t.co/FEnu8D3N4y
