Martin Keoghan struck for two first-half goals as Kilkenny saw off Wexford by 2-17 to 0-15 at Chadwicks Wexford Park to chalk up their second win in Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League.
Derek Lyng’s men had been 0-6 to 0-1 in front when Keoghan held his composure to net their first goal in the 23rd minute.
Five minutes later and the Tullaroan ace would find the Slaneysiders’ net again ahead of two frees from Eoin Cody moving the Cats towards a commanding 2-10 to 0-4 half-time lead.
Still minus the services of talisman Lee Chin, Wexford did make a marked improvement in the second-half, as Cian Byrne’s frees and the points of Mark Fanning, Conor Hearne and Simon Roche helped reduce their deficit down to six ahead of Cody and Billy Drennan sailing over to wrap up the points for the visitors.
