The second of this year's All-Ireland SHC semi-finals pitted Cork against fierce rivals Kilkenny in an epic contest at Croke Park.

Liam MacCarthy Cup holders Limerick powered through to the 2021 All-Ireland senior hurling championship final with an impressive victory over Waterford yesterday, but who would advance to provide opposition to the Treaty County in the decider this day fortnight?

The Cats had progessed to the All-Ireland series as Leinster champions, defeating Wexford and Dublin along the way, while the Rebels also saw off the Dubs in their most recent outing before today. Prior to that, they edged out Clare in the Qualifiers after losing their Munster semi-final to Limerick.

With 66 titles between them, these are the two most decorated teams in the history of the All-Ireland SHC. The Black & Amber were aiming to reach their second decider in three years, while Cork haven't contested a final since losing to Clare after a replay in 2013.
