"No doubt they will have targeted this game"

Meath's Donal Keogan and Caolan Ward of Donegal

Donegal defender Caolan Ward expects the Ulster champions to be in for a stern challenge when they take on Meath this Sunday.

Declan Bonner’s men have edged the last couple of meetings with the Royals, including last year’s Division 2 final at Croke Park, and Ward knows they’ll have a battle on their hands once more at Pairc Tailteann.

“No doubt they will have targeted this game and they will be well set up for us,” he told The Irish News.

“And Navan is a tough place to come to as I played in a qualifier there in 2017 and came out with a one-point victory. It was a lovely summer’s day.”

He added: “They are big strong men and no doubt they will have a couple of new faces like ourselves. They will be looking to get their performance right and having lost to Tyrone last Sunday they will be looking to get points on the board.”
