Dubliner Shane O'Brien is being heavily linked with the vacant Westmeath hurling manager's post.
The Lake County are in the market for a new manager following Joe Quaid's shock dismissal last month and it's believed the players want O'Brien to take over after coaching them last season.
The former Cuala player previously coached the Kildare senior hurlers, Dublin U21 hurlers and the Oulart-The-Ballagh hurlers among others. Outgoing selector Johnny Greville, who is also in charge of the Westmeath camogie side, has ruled himself out of the running.
