Cathal Kiely's 0-20 haul for Offaly in last night's dramatic Leinster U20HC victory over Dublin was simply sensational.
The Kilcormac-Killoughey clubman - younger brother of senior Faithful County star Cillian - set the tone for his incredible haul with nine first-half points at Parnell Park and never looked back.
Ironically, the 2017 U16 All-Ireland Poc Fada champion was off the field injured when Offaly were awarded a last-gasp free deep into injury time at the end of extra time. But his uncanny accuracy was clearly infectious as team-mate John Murphy stepped up to land the clinching point from midfield, handing the midlanders a stunning 1-29 to 2-25 victory and a semi-final date with Wexford.
Kiely’s scintillating score of points - 19 from frees and one from play - is the equivalent of one point every four minutes (he was substituted in the 82nd minute). Remarkable shooting by any standards!
