Dublin manager Anthony Daly congratulates Kilkenny manager Brian Cody after the Leinster SHC semi final
Anthony Daly has described those of the opinion that Dublin would have been better off losing to Wexford as 'apes'.
The Metropolitans face a quick turnaround before squaring up to All-Ireland champions Kilkenny in next Sunday's Leinster SHC semi-final after accounting for Wexford in Saturday's quarter-final replay at Parnell Park.
"We were a lot more solid, mentally," the Dublin manager reflected.
"The sending off (of Andrew Shore in the sixth minute) obviously had a big bearing mentally on the whole thing and they obviously had to try to change formation into the wind, and I think the three points before half-time were crucial just to stretch the lead to eight.
"We were eight up facing into the wind and won by eight, so I'd be reasonably happy.
"I know that the Kilkenny mentors won't be shaking in their boots on their way home, but all we can do is be the best we can be next week and see what we can take out of it.
"You have apes that will say we were better off if we lost it and going to the other way (into next Saturday's All-Ireland qualifier against Antrim), but I wouldn't think like that.
"Championship hurling is for trying to get a win. That's the way we went at it."
