NHL 3A: Brick eases Kerry past Royals
March 14, 2010
Kerry 3-30
Meath 3-10
Kerry cruised to victory against Meath at Tralee, where an outstanding 0-15 tally from centre-forward Shane Brick inspired the winners to their third consecutive win in Division 3A of the National Hurling League.
The Kingdom took control after the ten-minute mark after which they scored an unanswered 1-5 in the space of five minutes with Gay O'Brien blasting in the goal and the points coming from Brick (3), Darragh O'Connell and O'Brien.
Meath pulled back a goal to try and restore some parity, but when O'Brien struck for his second major in the 18th minute the hosts ran towards an unassailable 2-14 to 1-6 half-time lead.
John Meyler's team continued their dominance in the second-half, as substitutes Colm Harty and James Flaherty both got on the scoresheet, and despite the best efforts of Niall Hackett and Stephen Clynch to take the tarnish off the scoreboard for the Royals, Brick's tally stood tallest as Kerry finished 20-point winners in the end.
