Connacht hurling wins for Calry and Tynagh

Sligo's Calry-St. Joseph's and Tynagh-Abbey Duniry of Galway were celebrating yesterday following their respective Connacht club junior and intermediate hurling successes.
Sligo senior kingpins Calry-St. Joseph's captured their first provincial junior title by virtue of a 1-9 to 0-10 victory over Galway's Skehana at Kiltoom, Co. Roscommon. Skehana took a 0-5 to 0-4 lead into the interval and were 0-10 to 0-8 to the good entering the final stages when substitute Shane Martyn's 57th minute goal snatched a historic victory for the Sligomen.
Meanwhile, in Athleague, Tynagh-Abbey raised the Connacht club intermediate title - just 24 hours after beating Meelick-Eyrecourt in the Galway IHC final replay. Andy Burke, Brian Cunningham and Michael Dervan were the scorers-in-chief for Tynagh, who overcame Mayo senior champions Ballyhaunis on a 1-19 to 0-12 scoreline.
