If ever a team snatched victory from the jaws of defeat it was Castledaly in this championship game against a strong Coralstown Kinnegad team. Despite trailing by 8 points 1-05 to 2-10 with the opposition at double their tally; Castledaly had to dig deep and find two goals and 4 points without reply to secure the win in the closing minutes.
Castledaly started slowly and a mid range effort fell short of target from Brendan Kelly after an exchange of passes won the first free kick. Another good passing move found MJ McLoughlin in space to cooly open his teams scoring. Kinnegad had two attacks repelled as Castledaly's Darragh Kelly and Liam Fitzpatrick respectively intercepted and turned over possession. But some wayward passing allowed Coralstown Kinnegad to add two points and almost a third.
Castledaly missed a free kick for a foul on Paul Kelly but the team were beginning to find their game -both forward lines swarmed the Coralstown Kinnegad defence to retrieve possession and created a chance for Paul Kelly to add a GOAL to his tally and give Castledaly a minimum lead 1-01....03
Coralstown Kinnegad replied with a good spell and 5 further points unanswered while Castledaly struggled to find scores on three occasions in front of goal. In midfield Patrick Holloway was battling

Trailing at half time 1-02 to 08 Castledaly substituted Adrian Kelly for injured Gordon Duffy, Alan Stone moving to midfield and Derek Heavin filling in at right wing forward.
Within minutes of the restart, Castledaly had again missed their target twice before Brendan Kelly added a free kick for a foul on Paul Kelly. Castledaly's failure to clear danger allowed Coralstown Kinnegad to blaze 2 goals in rapid fashion past Eanna Duffy. David Stone sub for Fleming and had impact immediately to add a free-kick, after an Alan Stone long range effort sailed wide. The scores were increased to 1-05 2-09 as Lorcan Dolan
added another free-kick. At the opposite end goal keeper Eanna Duffy was called to action and performed a first class save to prevent
another goal chance but Coralstown Kinnegad kicked over the bar to

Liam Fitzpatrick Darragh Kelly MJ Kelly and John Warburton blocked the following Coralstown Kinnegad attacks and allowed Paul Kelly to win another free kick - dispatched again by David Stone as Castledaly sought a way back into the game. Liam Fitzpatrick carried the ball out of defence and exchanged passes with David Stone before Lorcan Dolan's mazy run allowed him add a well taken goal. Enda Kelly added to a strong display with his first score of the day while Brendan Kelly added another free kick point. Shane Fitzpatrick replaced injured Adrian Kelly as Castledaly upped the pace. MJ Kelly Derek Heavin Patrick Holloway strung a series of passes together before Paul Kelly found himself directly in front of goal and blast past the
