Anthony Tohill during his spell as Ireland IRS manager
Anthony Tohill made his first public appearance yesterday since sustaining serious facial injuries in a chainsaw accident two months ago.
The former Ireland International Rules manager was at the Owenbeg Centre of Excellence to lend his support to the launch of the new Derry jersey which sports the 'Opt for Life' slogan on its back. Fellow 1993 Derry All-Ireland winner Joe Brolly also attended the launch along with GAA coach Shane Finnegan, who the controversial RTE pundit donated a kidney to last year.
"I'm doing really well. I'm delighted to be here, delighted to be back at Owenbeg," Tohill told the Irish News.
"It's one of those things. It just happens and you just have to deal with it then. In the general scheme of things … it's nothing, a wee bit of a scratch."
The new Derry jersey will be worn for the first time in Sunday week's Ulster SFC quarter-final against Down at Celtic Park.
