Mayo's David Brady
Former Mayo midfielder David Brady has answered an SOS call from his club Ballina Stephenites who are staring relegation from the senior ranks in the face.

The Stephenites have been an ever-present in the Mayo top flight since their foundation in 1886 and that proud tradition will be put on the line this Sunday when they face Kiltane in the Mayo SFC relegation play-off final in Crossmolina.

All-Ireland club champions as recently as 2005, former Mayo footballer Anthony McGarry and his management team 'voluntarily resigned' the day after they lost their first relegation play-off to Breaffy.

The Mayo News reports that Brady has been installed as temporary manager and Kenneth Rafter and James Devanney will also form part of the management team.

Brady oversaw the team's Division 1A league win over Shrule/Glencorrib at the weekend.

Ballina's chances of avoiding the drop have been boosted by the return of Pat Harte and Ronan McGarrity.
