Rath out for remainder of league

Louth's Padraig Rath
Louth defender Padraig Rath has been ruled out of the rest of the national football league.

The corner back fractured his left ankle when competing for a 50-50 ball with Cavan's Micheal Lyng during Sunday's victory at Drogheda.

An x-ray revealed that a small bone was broken and the Dreadnots man will be in a cast for six weeks.

The lay-off could also rule Rath out of the Leinster championship clash with Longford.

He recalls: "Two of us went for it and he got it. I went to stop his run but my leg twisted and I heard a crack straight away."
