Ballyhaise (Cavan) 6-14
Pallaskenry (Limerick) 1-5
Ballyhaise College (Cavan) dominated this Agricultural colleges final from start to finish at Ballykelly, Monasterevin last evening. Playing with a strong wind on their backs Ballyhaise raced into a 4 point lead with Leitrim and Drumkerrin pair Cathal McAuley and James Gallagher contributing two points each.
The all Meath half forward line of Skryne's Conor O'Brein and Brian Davis along with Charles Brogan (Carnaross) were very much to the fore along with both midfielders Eddie Markey and Kevin McNern. Brian Davis pointed and Kevin McNern finished a fine driving move to the net for a great team goal.
James Gallagher, McAuley and Johnny McCrossan were now very much to the fore and further points from the Leitrim pair were followed by a fine long ball from Charles Brogan being calmly finished to the net by Gallagher to bring his personal tally to 1-03.
Ballyhaise led 2-12 to 0-01 at the break, the Limerick outfit were now only playing for pride and a brace of points and a penalty goal brought them more into the game. Points from Eddie Markey and super wing back Ronan McGowan pushed Ballyhaise further clear.
A goal from Brian Davis was followed by 2 more to the net from substitute Ronan Breslin. This was a great performance from the Cavan college and Cathal McAuley rounded off a perfect evening by finishing to the net to bring his personal score to 1-07.
Knockbride man Patrick Carolan accepted the cup and the long journey back to Cavan felt a little shorter.
