Dunboyne captain Sinead Hackett recieves the Meath U21 Camogie Cup
On Sunday we held the last of the Meath Camogie Championship Finals in Dunsany at 11am & 12.30pm. The U13 & U21 Finals, these are two new championship that were introduced into the Meath Camogie Fixtures this Year. The winners of the U13 Championship will go on to Represent Meath in the Feile 2008. The Under 21 was introduced, as their is still a gap between U18 & Senior Level and it is hoped that this competition will keep teams involved if the did not make it at Intermediate or Senior Level. Under 13 Final Ratoath 1-0 Kilmessan 0-0 Half time score same as full time This Under 13 final proved to be a very exciting Final, Where Rataoth came out on top with the only score of the game. Rataoth made history earlier this year with a fine win at Feile, and as the winners of this competition go on to play in Feile 2008 they put it up to Kilmessan today. Their was only one score between the teams . Kilmessan started the stronger with Laura Irwin & Dion Meehan working well at Centre Field but Ratoaths No. 3 Adrienne Mccabe who started at full back moved up field and she proved to be a thorn in Kilmessan Side. The only score of the game in additional time of the first half the 23 minute a goal from Karen McCabe. Kilmessan fought hard through out the game with Megan Ni Choilean doing well in the forward line, but the not get the scores the wanted. Sub Megan Thynne for Lauren Gorman Under 21 Final Dunboyne 2-5 Kiltale 0-2 Dunboyne went out easy winners of this Under 21 Final , which is played with 13 players aside. Kiltale were first to score in the first minute with a point from Debra Wigglesworth. It took Dunboyne until the 15 minute to register their first point, Sinead Hackett put over from play, after this the did not look back. Kiltale had numerous attempts from frees , but failed to add another score . Aoife Thompson playing at centre back for Dunboyne was a wordy winner of player of the Match with her defensive work through out the game. Sinead Hackett added another point from Play followed by a well taken goal from Aine Keogh who ran in on goal and their was no stopping this goal. Half time score Dunboyne 1-2 Kiltale 0-1 The second half show much of the same , Kiltale were first up with a point from play from Louise Donoghue. It was Dunboyne who took control after this with a fine Goal coming from Sinead Hackett in the 5th minute, followed by 2 more points from play. Kiltale had possession and did work well together, but with 12 wides to Dunboynes 5 wides, they just did not look like scoring. Dunboyne got vital scores when it counted.
