Moynalty ............. 2-9

Two second-half goals from full-forward David Murtagh seemed to have earned Moynalty the Larry Kearns Cup before Flattery intervened with assistance from fellow sub Eric Cribben to net at the town end and secure a first JFC B title for the club since 2005.

Nine second-half wides, when assisted by the wind, seemed to be about to about to cost Vinny Guy's charges when they trailed by a goal heading into the final five minutes.

Flattery also pitched with the penultimate score when pointing in the 58th minute with another replacment Eoin Corrigan providing the assist. The title-winner was also the only Boardsmill player to register more than once from play.

Wing-back Ray Hatton started the move that led to the goal from inside his own 65. Dual county minor Charlie Bird was also involved in the move that led to the decisive score.

Boardsmill's David Farrell scooped the scoring plaudits with eight points (seven frees) while Paul Lynch's fourth minute pointed free was Moynalty's only score from a placed ball.

Fortunes ebbed and flowed in an exciting hour with Moynalty looking a 'dodgy docket' when trailing by 0-6 to 0-8 at the break having playing with the wind in the first 30 minutes.

Things got worse for Moynalty when they passed up a number of scoring chances within minutes of the resumption including a 33rd minute penalty when Ollie Sheridan's under cooked effort was saved by Boardsmill goalkeeper and captain Sean Dixon. Hatton pointed for Boardsmill in their first attack of the second-half. By the 39th minute the side in royal blue jerseys were 0-10 to 0-7 clear.

Then came Murtagh's first intervention, fisting to the net from Stephen Blackburn's delivery to tie up the scores, 1-7 to 0-10, for fourth and final time in the hour with two thirds of the game gone.

The team managed by the last Meath man to score a goal in an All-Ireland SFC final went on to outscore Boardsmill by 1-2 to 0-1 over the next nine minutes and seemed set to go one better than 2009 and 2010 when they lost the JFC B finals. However, Vinny Guy's men had the final say.

Abetted by a strong wind blowing towards the town goal, Moynalty were quick to show moving 0--4 to 0-1 ahead after seven minutes. Boardsmill's Thomas Leonard cancelled out Ollie Sheridan's opener, after Charlie Bird did well to keep the ball in play. The dual county minor operated at corner forward despite wearing the number four shirt.

However the north Meath side replied with scores from Paul Lynch (free), Michael Lynch (a fine effort from distance) and Christy Cahill.

Gradually the 'Mill began to grind Moynalty down. Though trailing by 0-3 to 0-5 midway through the half, the bossed the second quarter on the scoreboard outscoring Murphy's men by 0-5 to 0-1. Another Farrell free saw them gain parity for the second time in the game this time at 0-5 each in the 21st minute. All of Moynalty's first-half scores came from play while Vinny Guy's managed just two such scores in the opening 30 minutes.

Boardsmill hit the front for the first time when Stephen Gibbons made it 0-6 to 0-5 in the 22nd minute. In the next attack his side passed up a gilt-edged goal chance at the hospital end when Farrell sent low, left and wide. When action quickly moved to the opposite end of the field, Moynalty passed up a chance to raise a green flag in the 24th minute when David Murtagh sent wide from in front of the posts.
