Lets say you have a player who has been part of a panel of player for four years. The team has won 3 All Ireland's in those 4 years. deadybai (Kilkenny) - Posts: 63 - 28/07/2015 10:14:42 1760090 Link 0 |
If he has three medals then he has won 3 All Irelands. It's a panel game now, not just a team game. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 28/07/2015 10:50:21 1760119 Link 0 |

If you haven't contributed anything on the pitch all year then you shouldn't be getting a medal IMO. Personally if I wasn't on the pitch to contribute on All Ireland final day but still got a medal for being on the panel then that medal would mean zilch to me. geoffmcgonagle (USA) - Posts: 54 - 28/07/2015 10:57:15 1760125 Link 0 |
When you were part of the team or panel that won the medal. pdempsey (Mayo) - Posts: 1313 - 28/07/2015 11:07:06 1760132 Link 0 |
I was reading the programme at a Kilkenny match a while back, and there were lads I'd never heard of with 3 or 4 medals. Wonder what's the record for most medals with no matches?! commercials1 (Limerick) - Posts: 115 - 28/07/2015 11:07:16 1760133 Link 0 |
If you are part of a panel, put in the effort and get a medal as a result then why shouldn't it count? The more you get the more slices of toast you can butter at once! Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4058 - 28/07/2015 11:39:08 1760156 Link 0 |
When you beat Limerick on the way to victory. Otherwise the value of the medal is diminished. mike03 (Limerick) - Posts: 2000 - 28/07/2015 12:03:51 1760170 Link 0 |
For the amount of time, effort and social life you're giving up to be on an all Ireland winning panel you fully deserve your medal Victorious87 (Wicklow) - Posts: 601 - 28/07/2015 12:13:37 1760177 Link 0 |
Not having a go at any county in particular, but if your team wins the All Ireland having played every game in their home ground, the medal wouldn't deserve the same merit. IMO. bryanadams (Kildare) - Posts: 733 - 28/07/2015 12:23:28 1760187 Link 0 |
bryanadams, well the only county you can be having a go at is Dublin? It's an incredibly stupid opinion, is Monaghans Ulster Championship not of the same merit as Donegals last year because it was played in Clones, get over yourself Victorious87 (Wicklow) - Posts: 601 - 28/07/2015 12:32:59 1760193 Link 0 |
Don't worry Bryan that county is going out this Sunday. Sean Quigley to kick 19 points, all from play. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 28/07/2015 12:51:47 1760207 Link 0 |

It is the same Gold Medal regardless. The medals are presented to the panel of players and should be accepted accordingly. fainleog (Limerick) - Posts: 602 - 28/07/2015 13:32:25 1760236 Link 0 |

There was a case at club level where I played a few minutes on first team which prevented me from playing any football with any other teams in championship. When we made it to the final and won I felt uncomfortable. Sure enough I had trained but I didnt have any input in the outcome of any games and it all just felt wrong. dstuction (Donegal) - Posts: 1209 - 28/07/2015 15:38:45 1760327 Link 0 |
@Bryanadams ; Bryan me aul flower this is a question you shouldn't really have to ponder because the subject matter is something that no Kildare player will have to think about for a very very long time ! In the meantime the sales of gold and silver Polish in the capital have reached an all time high and it is expected to continue for the foreseeable future ! Stop moaning now like a good lad! It's all very well saying that one medal is as good as the other. Not making the subs bench for the AI final is a serious downer and the medal does NOT feel the same!! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8746 - 28/07/2015 18:48:03 1760437 Link 0 |
Joe Brolly tells a story about when he met Pat Spillane at a sports function/event. I think Pat was accompanied by a younger member of the Spillane clan......when Pat spotted Joe, he introduced him as being "someone with one All Ireland medal"....priceless !! If you bump into Noel Skehan down there some day deadybai ask him how many All Ireland medals he has won. Maroonatic (Galway) - Posts: 1066 - 28/07/2015 19:55:29 1760477 Link 0 |
