At long last the 2009/10 Westmeath Inter County hurlers and management team are to be presented with their 2010 "Christy Ring Cup" Medals and also their 2009 and 2010 "Keogh Cup" Medals: This was anounced by the Westmeath Hurling Committee and published in this weeks edition of the "Westmeath Topic": It's not before it's time but we will be thankful for small mersy's: Perhaps if the Westmeath Hurling and football committees amalgamate into one board and take a more professional approach to our intercounty football and hurling teams then it will attract a more "dedicated" type of Athlete. It is my opinion that it is paramount to success to have only one Westmeath Intercounty board who will generate a hurricane of pride in wearing the Maroon and white: Leaving winners waiting four years for their Medals is not the way to do this, and in the case of the 2008 footballers five years waiting for their medals: By the way I noticed in the "Topic" article that there was no mention of the Footballers receiving their medals:
