Well done to Clare, showed great battling spirit to come back despite trailing for most of the match, tough on Cork who have been quite strong in the league. I'm sure some political manoeuvring will go on to ensure they are still in the top division next season.

Re-structure required!
New Format Tipp, KK and Cork will play round robin for next years title. No relegation
No immediate decision will be made on the other Counties cause well, you know why! Clare maybe kicked out of this years Munster Championship for beating Cork today..

The other counties would be any hurling counties less the one's I mentioned in my little super league scenario!
I was being sarcastic. The point I was making is the same one that most hurling followers are making! The current league system helps the strong counties stay strong and furthers the gap between them and the likes of Limerick, Offaly, Wexford, Dublin and Clare over the last few years.. Over the last few years there's been calls to change it and they have been ignored - Will they be ignored now that Cork are gone down - sure we can't have that!! i.e. Restructure Needed..
Sport give's many people in Ireland today an escape from the bull that goes on in the running of the country - Can the GAA prove that they are above it?

As I said on another thread, there has to be an element of sacrifice involved. This crazy idea ye all have of effectively ring fencing the top counties would remove all risk from the league, hence teams wouldn't try as hard to win it (players wouldn't want to get injured playing a glorified friendly) and in this situation there would be no intensity to the league and therefore ALL teams playing standards would suffer. We are constantly hearing that if teams want to stop Kilkenny its up to them to reach Kilkennys level, well if teams want to play in division 1a,its up to them to reach that level.Otherwise these counties are pretty much going to the Gaa and sayin "look, were not good enough to play at the top level,so could ye do us a favour and restructure the league?"

joncarter I agree 100% excellent post. If counties want to be part of the top division then they are going to have to improve greatly to get there. Clare are a perfect example of a team who over the last couple of seasons have been steadly improving and showed on Sunday in beating Cork that they're now good enough to compete with the big guns. While there is a little sympathy with Limerick on missing out on promotion what it has shown is they need to improve a good bit more before they are ready for Div.1A. I dont buy into the arguement that they need to be playing the elite teams on a regular basis to improve as a team. They have to be able to beat Dublin in a 1B final before they can think about beating the top 6. Is there any point in gaining promotion from a restuctured league to get walloped by the big guns next season and more than likely get relegated again. Maybe the likes of Limerick,Offaly and Wexford and others should place more emphsasis on the League and not the Championship. I know the Championship is the holy grail but these teams need to start somewhere and perhaps taking a season where your priority is on getting promotion and after that any sort of a run in the championship would be a bonus. I think the league has been more competitive this year than any other so long may it continue.
