Good news story Really

(Oldest Posts First)

finally something we can all agree on and be proud , GPA got a special mention in President Obamas Patrick days speech , explayers coaches Gilroy Mcguigan Canning Donal Og amongst others , went to new York after hurricane sandy to help with relief efforts , in particular rebuilding local sports hall . As a people as a sport you know when were great were bloody great . Nice to put out there a positive piece of PR .

These are the positives that should be highlighted more. Not some dust up in a junior match that the main stream media seem to be able to fill pages with trying to divide us.

Well done and I am glad he mentioned them. On a side note - Does anybody know if the GAA have ever approached a TV network or cable network in the USA about showing GAA games (even highlights)? It would be great if it was tried out in other countries and showcase our sport. It is the only way to expand on a large scale.

These are the legends of the game. The work they done over there was tremendous and deserve all the recognition they get, if only a few more of our stars could take a leaf out of their book.

Who paid for their flights, accomodation and for them to leave their jobs for several weeks between being there and their preparation?

aer lingus got news of it and sponsored the flights of all involved. They slept on a concrete floor of the local fire station, which was without running water by the way!! Not sure about the work situation but wasnt it mostly tradesman that were out of work anyway? someone told me that but might not be correct. Fair play to all involved
