Just noticed that at least 3 goals in this year's quarter finals were came from quickly taken frees. A move that would ultimately end in a goal was well underway while the aggrieved team were standing around with their hands in the air protesting the injustice of it all. You'd think at that level that teams would be alive to this. Anybody who was around in 1978 will remember what happened to Dublin when a quick thinking Mikey Sheehy completely turned an All-Ireland Final around with a piece of quick thinking brilliance. By the way, I think it's a great development in the game and hopefully it will eliminate the automatic pleas of innocence that are ultimately designed to inhibit refs from enforcing the rules. Dublin would really need to be careful in September, because Mayo have done this several times in this year's championship.

It's a good observation. Down got caught against Monaghan as well as Mayo.
Refs will save themselves an earful if they don't pull up teams from quick frees like that.
