The history behind Kerry and Down

Anyone else got a funny felling history could repeat itself and Down to keep their unbeaten record against a weakened kerry team?

No Hokey I would expect Kerry to come through this with ease. Down havent beaten a team of signifance and were brushed aside by Tyrone. Kerry by 6-8 points.

Bring them on.

No Down man has ever feared Kerry and that is the key to beating them.

Should be a cracker.

Lets do it for the men of 1960.

Its a great draw for Down all the pressure on Kerry would not suprise me in the least if Down won this one.

First thing that I thought when I heard the draw. It just seems to be set up for a famous Down victory but then I have been very wrong about Kerry in the past.

nice to play someone diff for once. Id fear Down. We're missing so many they should be confident of taking us.

I cant see Kerry beating Down by that much if they do. Down should be well pumped up and with them missing Tomas O'Shea and Galvin sure I couldnt really see them being much stronger than Down anyway. Kerry play a fair type of game and should be pure football.

I think Down will have a great shout against a depleted Kerry team. They have a handy team and beat Sligo by 19 points remember who almost took Kerry out last year!

We have nothing to lose, and Kerry will be raging hot favourites. I expect our lads to give one hell of a lash and who knows, maybe come out on the right end of the result. This will be a great experience for our young players, and will bring them on loads to play against the best.

Should be a good game and with Kerry depleted this could be a chance for Down to score a memorable win.

This Down team has flattered to decieve in recent times. They've looked set for a breakthrough back into the big time on a few occasions but have failed to deliver.

We'll see how good Down are now with Kerry missing arguably their two most influential players.

ta32,

I like your confidence in Down but you make it sound like a done deal. This may not be the best Kerry team ever or the strongest (without Galvin & O'Se) but Kerry will test this Down team to the limit. Thankfully we seem to have hit our optimum form in 2010 at the right time. Fingers crossed we go down to Croke Park and put it up to Kerry. We could beat them but I'll not bet the mortgage, car, etc, on it.

Bound to be absolutely rubbing their hands in Kerry. They would've been vunerable to a top team but Down are still long way short of that. A very kind qualifier draw has taken them this far. Watch their full back line being crucified at the weekend.

There is no doubt that in this qf that Kerry are at weakest; traditionally Down have an A1 record against us which is a plus for Down. I also felt at the early stage of the championship that Down were a dark horse and someone to watch; as the championship progressed, I thought they needed more time and I am still not sure about them now. However, subject to no more injuries for Kerry in the next week, I would be hopeful for Kerry. If Kerry do get through to the semi-final and injuries and red cards are avoided, I would be very hopeful for reaching the final.
