Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United will face Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, while Arsenal will take on defending champions Barcelona. fortyfive (Tyrone) - Posts: 5929 - 19/03/2010 11:42:51 592300 Link 0 |

I think people are dismissing Lyon & Bordeaux far too easily. Lyon won 7 titles in a row in France and are CL veterans. Bordeaux are managed by Laurent Blanc who has them playing some superb football. The French are guaranteed to get one side into the semi finals and remember Monaco hammering Chelsea in 2004. slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6628 - 19/03/2010 12:22:50 592365 Link 0 |

Isnt it due to posts like this that everybody views Manyoo as arrogant ********! I guess the fans will aready be brushing up on their spanish and booking their flights to Madrid, so dismissive of the oppostion and possible opposition are they, it gets on my fecking nerves. brendtheredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 10897 - 19/03/2010 12:36:22 592391 Link 0 |

United have a good record against Bayern, won one, lost 48 or something like that so no worries there. patrique (Antrim) - Posts: 13709 - 19/03/2010 13:01:43 592429 Link 0 |

Brenda - if the opposition ever did or does anything to make us respect them, then we will. RAM85 (Westmeath) - Posts: 978 - 19/03/2010 13:06:53 592439 Link 0 |

Brendan, I think that Fred is in the minority. Bayern are a top side and will be extremely difficult to beat. If United were to fall before the final this is the fence they are going to go at. I think that experience alone would maybe get them through to a final if they happened to beat Munich. However, I will not be booking flights to Madrid just yet omaghredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 3656 - 19/03/2010 13:08:29 592443 Link 0 |

I hope United get to the final and I hope its against Barcelona again for one reason. So Barca can stuff them again like last year. An this time around theres no ronaldo. But its ok United fans, you have JS Park. Scruffy2Donut (Cavan) - Posts: 1112 - 19/03/2010 13:28:33 592461 Link 0 |

match uniteds squad up against bayerns and they are average. bayern will shock a lot of people when they hammer united. since the juve game bayern have been playing great football. eventually their squad (best in the world after barca's and madrids) seems to be filling some of its potential 32_4_1 (Meath) - Posts: 4211 - 19/03/2010 13:31:59 592468 Link 0 |

News for all Man U fans...There's more than 1 United, you don't own the name. CnaD (Tyrone) - Posts: 35 - 19/03/2010 13:37:04 592470 Link 0 |

In fairness United fans have every right to feel confident after this draw. Bayern were extremely lucky to go through to this stage, Klose's goal when 3yards offside proved crucial. If Evra and whoever plays right back can keep Robben and Ribery under control they should win comfortably. nocky (Wexford) - Posts: 2059 - 19/03/2010 13:43:18 592479 Link 0 |

CnaD, since West Ham, Newcastle, Colchester, Leeds etc. didn't make the last 8 of the champions league I think it's okay to refer to Manchester United as simply "United" in this, a thread about this year's champions league. Note that none of the other remaining teams have "United" in their names. Good man. nocky (Wexford) - Posts: 2059 - 19/03/2010 14:24:59 592520 Link 0 |
