Entering Croke Park

(Oldest Posts First)

Just wondering can anyone tell me if a cusack stand ticket holder can enter through the hoganstand turnstiles? Im bringing my elderly father to the rugby saturday and we will be meeting people in Quinn's before hand so it will be a long walk to the cusack stand turnstiles from there for him. Our seats are for in the corner of the cusack stand joining onto the davin (canal).
Any info would be much appreciated.

i am sure if a steward uses common sense and compassion 2 your dad, then they should not be a problem.
good luck anyway u should be ok on that.

All the tickets are identical and arent really checked by turnstile operators, generally just scanned unless its a sell out. If you explain your case to a stewart outside the should accomdate you!

Explain your position to a guard - they might drop you down if the pig mobile is handy.

Sliotharfan - ring Croke Park (01 819 2300) and ask their advice. Should be straightforward, your ticket is seat specific and allows you entry to the ground so you get no advantage other than assistance for your father. They may recommend a particular entrance etc so there is no problem for you both on the day.

Well I've seen people being refused trying to get in on the 'wrong side.' You won't have a chance with the stewards at the approaches, so a call beforehand would probably be the best thing, and plead invalidity!

I'm almost sure you can get in through the Davin Stand side and walk around to the Cusack. I was at the corner of the Davin and Cusack and from what I could see its open.

Everyone has failed to explain to you that this is a RUGBY controlled game.

There are totally different sets of rules, stewards and gate men. Across the road from Quinns you will be met by a heavier barricde than normal GAA games.
Here you can't just nod the head or flash the ticket as normally happens. They actually scan the ticket on the side of the Drumcondra road.

I would be careful how you approach the ground. Remember you are dealing with a D4 crowd here.

What I will say is that if you are refused entry at the Hogan then go to the nearest Guard. Preferably a female one. The guards have the final say and will insure that your elderly gains access at the nearest point.

Alternatively you can arrange to meet your friends at the pub a couple of streets behind the Cusack. Think its the Fairview Inn. Very close to the ground, not as crowded and good banter in there too.

Enjoy the day.

but in all fairness you just have to leave early of if your father is that old get your friends to meet u in a pub nearer the stand there are penty around that area
because the stewards are not very willing to help people like u in ur situation as i have experienced it b4

hire out one of these bikes i see around the capital these days. Throw the aul buck up on the crossbar and ya can transport him to the cusack yourself.

Ah no, the guards are your only man for this one. Explain the situation to a friendly pig and im sure they will sort something out for you
