well done to Skryne GFC in Meath, who had 5 players on the list of 125 players. I'd say there's not too many clubs that can say the same

Whats all this about Maurice Fitz should have been higher? He definitely wasnt better than Canavan.

While Maurice Fitz was a lovely stylish footballer, he wasnt ruthlessly effecient like Canavan, Tompkins or some of the others. Its all well and good being exceptionally skilful but it has to be produced consistently.

Nickey Rackard number 6 ?
thought the only debate would be Rackard or Ring for number Shefflin and Carey were/are fantastic players but not better then Nickey Rackard.

You obviously copied your list from Wikipedia which, not for the first time, is incorrect. As per the link below, Jack O'Shea topped this list and Peter Canavan was 3rd, though (presumably) some Tyrone fan decided to tweak it when posting it on Wiki. The same person also decided to switch the positions of Eugene McKenna & Sean Cavanagh (actually 48th and 43rd respectively).

As for Joyce, he certainly wasn't insulted to be ranked the 54th best player of all time. When you look at some of the names below him, as well as a few who didn't even make the final cut, I'd think that Joyce will have been pretty pleased with where he landed.

Canavan very lucky to be No. 3. He deserves to be in the top 20 but not the top 3.

Gooch is number 1 now and Canavan a close 2nd. The Gooch is the greatest footballer I've ever seen.

Honestly dont see what the fuss is about gooch- has a tendancy to disappear in the big games.

I even seen him been marked out of it by a Tir Connell Gaels player in the club championship in ruislip a few years back, dont think he scored from play!!

Of the current era id have any of the O'Se's before Gooch all day.

Jack O Shea was partnered by Sean Walsh at Centrefield for Kerry. Sean Walsh was a great player also and took many of the hard hits while Jack O Shea roamed the field. Mick O Connell did not have that luxury while playing for Kerry. Mick O Connell was pure class and a great footballer. Mick O Connell is legendery and synonymous with Gaelic Football. I would have Mick O Connell No.1 and Sean Purcell No.2. Mattie McDonogh of Galway should be in the top 25, the only footballer to win 4 Senior All Ireland medals from West of the Shannon.
A few extra good years from Bernard Brogan will place him amongst the top 25.

By the same token, I can think of one Tyrone player above him who was fortunate to be so highly placed.
