Most of the clubs go by the same standard set of colour combinations, but there's definitely some odd ones out there... Green & Blue: Rathcline, Murroe-Boher Maroon & Green: Shrule/Glencorrib, Moygownagh, Castlerea Maroon & Yellow: Ballinrobe, Croabh Chiarain Green, Black & Yellow: Michael Glaveys, Ardagh Orange & Blue: Ardboe Red & Yellow: Castlebar Mitchels Purple & Green: Leitrim Gaels Black & Blue: Maghera MacFinns Red & Blue: St Thomas, Erins Own Cork Leitrim Gaels and Ardboe are probably the most unusual out of these Any other ones?? Not a club but the UCC college jersey with the black skull and cross bones on a red background. I suppose they are a club in that they play in the Cork championship. Belmont in Offaly wear the same colours as Glen Rovers. Belmont are the hurling end of Ferbane parish, they were narrowly beaten in the semi final of the Offaly SHC, by the champions , Kilcormac/Killoughey. I am not sure of the origins of the colours. My club, Ballybay, used to have a white shirt with a blue hoop. In the late 40's they changed to maroon for the very simple reason that no one else had maroon in Monaghan and therefore they wouldn't need a change strip! FootblockREF (Monaghan) - Posts: 569 - 04/10/2017 16:21:27 2053065 Link
Kilskyre/Moylagh, a rural hurling amalgamation in north Meath also wear the same colours as Glen Rovers. With both clubs low on numbers, they joined together last year at adult level only and compete in the intermediate championship. Kilskyre's traditional jersey is black and amber while Moylagh wear green and so they incorporated their colours. 2016 Armagh SFC finalists St Patrick's, Cullyhanna wear black, red and yellow. There is an Armagh college who also wear the same colours. Forget the name... They played St Pat's Navan in the Hogan Cup final a number of years ago. Interesting. I have a dislike of Patrick Horgan wearing a red skin underneath the jersey. Makes it horrible looking. I know am been petty but it just grinds my gears. Gort Na Mona of Belfast wear maroon with a yellow stripe. Its like a synthetic version of what was cool in the 60's. The sight of them running their mouths on a Falls Park pitch with that on is enough to make any opposition player lose their discipline. Except me, of course !
