Fermanagh midfielder Paul Brewster was so devastated after his side's loss to Down in the Ulster SFC semi-final that he considered retiring from the game. Fermanagh fans will be delighted that he changed his mind because his introduction nine minutes into the second half was very valuable as he added much needed experience to the Fermanagh team and helped them to their three point victory over neighbours and great rivals Cavan. Fermanagh boss Dominic Corrigan gave Brewster the time he needed and even omitted him from the Fermanagh starting fifteen for the game helping to ensure Brewster would return for the game. "I think he buried the disappointment of Clones on his father's sod today," reflected Corrigan after Fermanagh's victory over Cavan in Brewster Park in Enniskillen. "Paul was very let down after last Sunday. I left him for four or five days but I knew that the closer it came to Sunday the more that he would want to get out there," added Corrigan. Speaking on the subject himself Brewster admitted, "If you had asked me during the week I'd have said I had given up. But I'm not a quitter," he added forcefully. Brewster and the rest of his Fermanagh team will need all of their fighting spirit however if they are to progress any further in the competition as they face Meath in the next round of the qualifiers, with the game to be played in Clones. Fermanagh will go into the game as underdogs but they won't fear Meath as they have already beaten the Royals this year gaining a victory over them in the League but championship is totally different and it should prove a very interesting clash.
