ST MALACHY'S G.A.C CASTLEDAWSON
Lotto
Numbers drawn in the weekly Lotto on Monday 30th April were 5, 14, 16 & 20. As there was no winner the both Lucky Dips went to Willie McPeake from Bellaghy and Kieran Keenan who each get £25. The jackpot for next week will now be a monstrous £5300.
Senior & Reserve Football
Castledawson travelled to Ballinderry on Sunday 29th April for the 4th round of the league and after a bright first half, where the whites should have been leading by more than the single point at half time as they dominated proceedings but lacked that killer edge in front of goals, missing 3 very good goal chances and numerous points. Half time score was 1-2 to 0-4 to the whites. On the restart, Ballinderry upped a gear and hit a few points without reply. The home side were clinical with their shooting and had only 4 wides in the whole game. Even though the Dawson did have further goal chances, a combination of excellent goalkeeping and stout defending kept the visitors out and the home team ran out comfortable winners in the end, on a scoreline of 1-5 to 0-16. This was a much improved performance from the lads and if they had taken their chances they might have even sneaked a result. The first match of the championship is on Friday night at Magherafelt, with Swatragh being the opposition. All support would be very much appreciated.
Under 16's
The U16's beat Ogra More last week.
Under 14's
Thursday past saw our U14's play host to Ballymaguigan in round 4 of the football league. Having suffered 2 narrow defeats in recent weeks the boys were keen to put on a good performance. The first half was a well contested affair with both teams putting some fine moves together and taking some excellent scores. At the break Castledawson led 2-5 to 1-5.
In recent games the whites have tired in the second period but not on this occasion. The home side sensed victory and were not going to be denied. An excellent all round team performance in the second half saw the defence playing as a cohesive unit. They held the Ballymaguigan forwards on a tight rein until a dubious injury time penalty. Meanwhile the midfield and attack played some delightful football with Aidan Keenan, Aidan Bradley, Stephen O Hagan, Nathan Young and Brian Ludlow grabbing some well worked scores. This was a much improved performance and management will expect a similar effort in future weeks. Final Score Castledawson led 3-11 to 2-5.

Our next under 14 game will be away to Ogramore on Thursday May 3rd at 7.00 pm. All players assemble at the Broagh for 6.00pm (Sharp). Training continues on Saturdays 4pm - 5pm.
Cul Camp
The response to the Cul Summer Camp has been outstanding with over 70 local children registered to attend the Castledawson Camp on July 3rd, 4th and 5th. All fees (£25 per child and £20 for a second child) are now due.

Camogie News
Seniors - the girls were defeated by the narrowest of margins when they played Dunloy at home in the Ulster Premier League last Wednesday night. This was a very closely contested affair throughout and whilst the Dawson had the majority of play in the second half they left it too late to claw back a victory and at the final whistle the score was Dunloy 3-05, Castledawson 1-10.
Katie McAuley gave her usual stylish performance, Roisin Hawe was on top scoring form up front whilst Anne Marie Bovill and Geraldine Mulholland worked very hard feeding balls into the full forward line.
Team: Claire O'Kane, Sinead Heaney, Maura McAuley, Mary McAuley, Maoliosa Shivers, Katie Pickering, Karen McGrath, Katie McAuley, Geraldine Mulholland, Anne Marie Bovill, Roisin Hawe, Shauna Mulholland, Maria Taggart, Una McAuley, Eimear Totten. Subs: Eilish Keenan, Donna O'Kane, Margaret Cunningham.
The girls travel to neighbours Bellaghy tonight(Tuesday) at 7pm for their second Derry league fixture, and are at home to Portglenone on Wednesday night(2nd May) to fulfil the fourth leg of the Ulster Premier League. The team would appreciate your support for both matches.
Underage - The U-14's have played 2 matches so far this season. Last week they were defeated by a very strong Swatragh team. On Sunday past they took on Coleraine and despite a good team effort were beaten 5-03 to 2-01. We are confident that with continued hard work at training and under the watchful eye of manager Mary McAuley, the team will improve with every game.
Team: Leshaun O'Hagan, Kinesha O'Hagan, Lisa Robinson, Cara Bell, Clare Diamond, Clare McLaughlin, Niamh Diamond, Emma Brown, Ashley Johnson, Alice Coogan, Shona O'Kane, Molly Devlin, Olivia McGovern, Kayla McErlean, Erin Marron, Orlagh Bradley, Aoife Young, Danielle Beattie, Clarice Cudden, Kirsty Coyle, Laura Hughes and Martha Coogan.
There will be no match this Saturday. Training for U-14's and U16's will be on Saturday at 11am. Training for U-8/U-10/U-12's continues at the same time.
Other News - the St Malachy's Junior Championship winning team of 1988 played against Bellaghy Thirds on Saturday past in a special match played in memory of recently deceased past player of the Club, Shauna McElhone. The game was referred by Margaret brolly and the Dawson did not disappoint with an outstanding display of camogie. The defence was so tight that goalie Donna O'Neill touched the ball only once in the first half. Roisin Lupari showed she had not lost her striking skills and Rosie McGlone at full forward was lethal in front of the Bellaghy goals. Others to catch the eye were Caroline Wilson, Sharon O'Neill, Bernie McGlone, Majella Taggart and Sinead Cleary. Youngster Mary McAuley was disappointed and unlucky not to pick up another player of the match award. Well done to everyone who took part.
