Blessington GAA Notes
Blessington Gaa is running Fantasy Cheltenham in conjunction with Erins Own Gaa Club in Castlecomer. Tickets are €20 however friends can come together to purchase one. There is €6,000 in prizes. To win you have to select a horse in each of the first 4 races on each of the 4 days of Cheltenham. Points are awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th in each race with double points being awarded in the Big race each day. Winners will be decided by whoever gets the most points each day and there is an overall prize of €1500 to the person who has the most points over the 4 days. This promises to be a fun event in attempting to predict the winner & placed horses in each race. Selections on each race have to be done before 1.00 pm each day and can be done in any of the following ways (a) Online,(b) E Mail,(c) Text or (d) by phone to a call centre.Tickets will be available from Committee members from Wednesday next 24th February and have to be returned before 10th March or you can book a ticket by sending an e mail to Arthur Hennessy at

Best of luck to Kevin hanlon, paul mc Loughlin & Eoin Devlin in the U21 Leinster Champ in Baltinglass on Wed night at 7.30pm. Wicklow v Waterford on Sun next in Aughrim at 2.30pm we will be represented on the panel by Barry Murphy, Anthony Mc Loughlin & Michael Mc Loughlin. Our Seniors will play Newtown in the First match of Div 1 league on Friday 2nd March at 8pm in Newtown, best of luck to all in the year ahead.Wicklow Minors played Wexford in a challenge on Sunday last and lost by just 4 points well done to all our lads involved Kyle Geraghty,Thomas Donohoe,Ian Richardson & Mikey O Connor we wish the lads the best of luck against Dublin in the 1st Match of the Leinster League in Roundwood Friday night 2nd. The U15 Development squad played Dublin away on Sat and were beaten we were represented by Martin Shannon,Patrick O Connor,Caolan Mc Gorman,Aaron Broe Foster & Conor Kenny. The 2nd of the U14 trials took place in Carnew on Sat well done to Sean Boothman,Sean Mc Garr & Jack Cotter who attended. U14 Hurling Development was Sun in Arklow well done to Joe Broderick who is representing the club there once again.The 2nd Paddy Magee Memorial match will be played St Patricks Day at 11.30am in Blessington against Ballymore Eustace admin €5 and all proceeds will be divided between the Blessington Senior Citizens & Ballymore Eustace Senior Citizens. The club sends deepest sympathy to The Doyle & Finnegan Fanmilies on the death of Lena and to the Hanrahan Family Baltyboys on the death of Pam.
Blessington Juvenile Notes
The Minors played Avondale away on Sunday 26 February at 11.30am. They were beaten well in the end by the opposition on a score line of of 1-10 to 2-02. Playing against the wind in the first half Blesso trailed 0-06 to 0-00 at half time. Blesso recovered well in the second half with goals from Johnny Kelly and Declan McEnroy. Jordan Nolan scored 0- 2 points from frees. At one point there was only 0-1 between the teams. Avondale scored another 1-01 to win the match. Blesso minors are free next week and will play away to Carnew Emmets on 11 March. The U16 Leinster League will kick off on Saturday 3 March at home versus Killary Emmets from Laois at 4pm. The Feile matches will kick off on the same day. No further information as yet. U12 hurling continues on the astro every Tuesday from 6pm - 7pm. U7 indoor hurling continues in St Josephs hall from 5pm - 6pm and U8 indoor hurling continues from 5pm -6pm also in St Josephs Hall. Please contact Ciaran 085 7145288 for more info. Our U12 football training returned last week and training takes place every Monday and Wednesday at 7pm. Blessington GAA will host St Patrick's GAA club from Lordship in Co Louth on Saturday 10 March with football challenge matches between our U11, U12 and U13 teams. Matches will kick off at 12 noon. The club look forward to hosting this event. Please support our young players. Our Academy, U8 and U10 football will return on Saturday March 3 at 10am. A registration evening will be held at the clubhouse on Wednesday 7 March at 6.30pm - 8.30pm. Registration for the first child is €20 and every other child will be €10. This covers registration and insurance for 2012. A GAA Coaching Practical Workshop fitness Games for Footballers will take place in the clubhouse on 10 March 11am - 12.30pm. All club coaches are asked to attend. Anyone interested in attending should contact Noreen on 0872858375. A Just4keepers course is also being organised so if anyone is interested in taking part contact Noreen on the above number. A Football and Hurling Cul Camp will be held from 9-13 July (F) and 23-27 July (H) in Blessington GAA. Kelloggs are the new sponsors this year and there will be €5 vouchers printed on all Kelloggs pack which can be used towards the cost of the Cul Camp. More info will follow in the coming weeks.
