Invitations have been sent out and the organising committee are hoping as many as possible can attend what promises to be a great occasion.

Ray Fox Memorial

In conjunction with the Kilbeggan Knighthood Festival, there will be a GAA Skills Day which will feature Kilbeggan/St. Joseph's underage teams - both boys and girls - from U6 up to minor on Bank Holiday Monday next, June 3 in St. James' Park, commencing at 12 noon.

It will be called the Ray Fox Memorial in honour of one of our greatest ever clubmen who passed away in 2011. Having worn the maroon and white jersey, Ray went on to become an outstanding administrator, serving nearly every position on the club executive, including chairman. In addition, he was a key member of our lotto committee, unselfishly giving of his time to sell thousands of tickets over the years.

One of his proudest moments came in 2000 when he formed part of the management team, along with current Westmeath manager Pat Flanagan and Tommy Carberry, which guided Kilbeggan to an intermediate championship success.

We are hoping all underage players can attend if possible. The Skills Day will start with the U6, U8 and U10 teams playing matches between themselves, with every child receiving a medal. At 1pm, the older kids will take part in a skills competition for trophies.

Refreshments will be provided for adults and children. Hope to see you all there!

Festival Parade

The eagerly-awaited Kilbeggan Knighthood Festival gets underway with the Opening Ceremony and Parade on Friday next at 5.30pm. Members of our club are taking part with our main sponsors, Dunbia, kindly providing an articulated truck for the occasion. It will be a final opportunity for us to show off the Hugh Daniels Cup before it is returned to the county board.

The Parade will be led by club member and Grand Marshall John Sheehy and the Clara Town Band, starting in the Church car park on the Harbour Road at 6pm and proceeding down the town to St. James' Park and back up to the Church car park, finishing at 7.15pm at the latest.

The MC will be Ricey Scully of Midlands Radio 3 fame.

Westmeath/Knighthood Festival

Best of luck to selector Philip Kiernan and the Westmeath footballers against Dublin in the Leinster SFC quarter-final at Croke Park on Saturday evening. Best wishes are also extended to chairman Alan McCormack and the rest of the Kilbeggan Knighthood Festival Committee ahead of next weekend's big event. Hope everything goes well for you.

Get well Paul

We wish a speedy recovery to former player Paul McCormack who was hospitalised recently.
