Minors too strong for disappointing Fermanagh
May 21, 2007
As expected Tyrone minor footballers are through to the Ulster MFC semi-final when on Sunday, 20th of May at Saint Tiarnach's Park, Clones they easily defeated a disappointing Fermanagh side on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-6.
This was a low-key affair from start to finish with the Tyrone side ahead at the interval by seven points.
The expected Fermanagh comeback at the start of the second-half never really materialised as Tyrone continued to dominate around the midfield area with Colin Harkin in fine form. They increased their lead to 12 points after ten minutes and were never really troubled for the remainder of the game.
Fermanagh supporters got some hope late in the half when they converted a penalty after D. Keenan was fouled by Tyrone goalkeeper Michael O'Neill. This however, only proved a consolation score as Tyrone finished the game strongly with late points from Kyle Coney and Mark McKenna for a deserved double scores success.
Fermanagh went into this game with hope of causing an upset. They had a reasonably good Ulster Minor League campaign and training ahead of Sunday's game went well. However, on the day they just couldn't compete with a stronger and more organised Tyrone side who will be hoping to go all the way this season.
