ULSTER JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL REPLAY.
MONAGHAN HARPS 1-12
LIMAVADY 1-2
Monaghan Harps possessed far too much firepower for Derry champions Limavady in this tough and at times dramatic replayed Ulster Junior club final in Cremartin.
Played in very difficult conditions this was a game that Monaghan Harps dominated from the start and effectively had result wrapped up at half-time when they led by 10 points to goal. The drama started early in the second half with two players, Stephen Carton, Limavady and Peter Coyle, Monaghan Harps, getting straight red cards in the early minutes and by the finish Limavady were down to 12 players. A goal by Gary Murray in the eighth minute of the second-half was the score that completely pushed this game beyond Limavady's reach with the Harps now eleven points in front.
They were only to score one further point as the standard of played deteriorated while Limavady could only manage two points as frustration crept into their play and they suffered two further dismissals with Stephen Keown and John Deighan both seeing red, the latter two minutes into stoppage time. MonaghanHarps now play the Meath and Leinster champions, Wolfe Tones, in the all Ireland semi final in Cremartin on Sunday April 4th.
