How are they not there?

(Oldest Posts First)

Lads, after following the club matches all year, attending most I just have no idea how Stephen Sheppard is not on the Meath team. I would definately rank him in the top 6 defenders in the county. EOB has to look at him for next year surely.

Also I have been very impressed by Niall McLoughlin. He might not be upto starting in the forwards but should be a cert for the Meath panel in 2010 also.

There are more but these two for me are ahead of the rest.

I don't have the full picture as i was not at all of the Tones games during the year but on Sunday i thought Sheppard was very poor. One lucky point where it was obvious to all that he was merely kicking it accross the goals and the wind caught it and dragged it over. Other than that, he wasted alot of ball, made very poor decisions at times, didnt stand out at all. Agree with Niall McLaughlin, thought he was up there with the top 2 or 3 best performers on Sunday.

I wouldnt agree with Shepard having a poor game. I think he is a good club player and has alot to offer with his pace and strength. Like the last post however I would question his intelligence on the ball and decision making which is definitely not up to county standard.

After Sundays final I defo think that Niall McLoughin should make himself available for selection at county level.

dnt agree with ur post atal triple h,ive seen most of the tones games this year and this has been sheppards worst year by far,was he not marking finnegan who was sensechastown best player?e scored a great point but that was all he did,and as for niall mc he was on the meath panel before and he walked away himself

I thought Shepard was poor at the weekend. He man was Senchelstown best forward, he scored 0-4 that should have been 1-3, all from play. Shepard was too lax in his marking. The point he got was excellent, but could have easily went 20 yards wide. I don't think he is near county standard.

As for Niall McLoughlin, I think he has to learn to pass the ball more. He took far too muck out of it on Sunday, running into cul de sac's and losing possession. He is a decent player, probably worth his place on the Meath panel but certainly not a first 15 player.

Dont rate that Sheppard player really that much. Fox for Tones is the main man for them. Every move involves him. If they didnt have him they have zero creativity to set up Ward.

goalswinsgames u got it spot on i tink.sheppard is very slack in his defending, seems lik all he wants to do is go forward and not defend, missed 2 guilt edge chances sunday from inside d 21. and mcloughlin took far too much out of d ball, evrytime he got it he ran with it until he was closed dwn by 4 or 5 senchalstown men and all he did was clogged up al d space instead of jus playin d simple old game of letting d ball in quick to ur danger man-ward!fox showd wat he is all about, intelligence and quickness,he is an outstanding footballer and def playd d best for tones last sun, hope he does it agen tomoro nite,he is great to watch playing d game

Justin O'Reilly of Moylagh should be on the county team. If he was playing with any club up the county he'd have been on it for the last number of years.
