Dublin intermediate hurling championship winners Setanta had little difficulty in overcoming their Meath counterparts Blackhall Gaels in the opening round of the Leinster club junior hurling championship at St Lomans Park Trim
Cumann Baire Setanta 3-14
Blackhall Gaels 0-8
From the word go the difference in class between the two clubs was in evidence. The Dublin champions, who scored 2-2 in the last four minutes to win their county championship last Sunday, were 1-2 to 0-0 up inside ten minutes, the goal coming from Donal Breathnoch from the games first play. Blackhall enjoyed their best period in this game between the 10th and 20th minute and points from Dermot Carty (2), Johnny Meyler and Stephen Morris had the gap down to two, 1-3 to 0-4 with ten minutes remaining. Setanta finished out the half the stronger and scores from Antoin Ceitinn (2) and Lucas O'Ceallaigh (3) gave them a 1-8 to 0-5 interval cushion.
The gap was still six points 1-10 to 0-7, with ten minutes gone in the second half before Setanta took over proceedings. 1-1 from Antoin Ceitinn, three points from the impressive O'Ceallaigh and a goal from Fiontain McGibb sealed the issue.
