Horan reveals league title ambition

February 06, 2012

Mayo manager James Horan
James Horan admitted that Mayo are targeting NFL glory after their impressive victory away to Laois on Saturday night.

"(A league title) absolutely is," said the Mayo boss, whose side have already claimed the FBD League title in 2012.

"If you look at the All-Ireland champions for the last 10 years and how they did in the league, it's quite evident that the league is now a serious competition and a good indicator how a team will do in the championship.

"So as far as I'm concerned, we want to stay in the league as long as we possibly can this year."

His Laois counterpart Justin McNulty made no attempt to hide his disappointment afterwards.

"I'm very disappointed because I don't think the team did itself justice.

"It was a fair enough result. Mayo were deserving winners, and we have to go back to the drawing board now if we want to produce a better display than we did today," he said.
