Glyde Rangers 2-9
St Kevins 1-7
Glyde Rangers were crowned Division 3 Leauge Champions after securing a five-point win over St Kevins in the play-off on Tuesday night.
Goals in the first quarter from Trevor O'Brien and Conor Sheridan proved crucial as the Tallanstown side clinched a return to Division 2 for the coming season.
Glyde looked to be cruising at half time when they built up a seven point lead, but were made fight all the way after a determined Kevins side were given hope by a Seanie Crosbie goal.
In the end the experience of the Tallanstown side was vital as they held out for a deserved five-point win.
After the opening two points were shared, Glyde produced the first goal of the game after seven minutes when a fine passing move resulted in Trevor O'Brien finding the net.
The Philipstown side battled to stay in touch but were rocked by the concession of a rather soft goal at the end of the first quarter. Conor Sheridan sent in a long range effort but the greasy conditions conspired against the Kevins keeper who let the ball slip from his grasp and into the net.
That score helped Glyde lead by 2-5 to 0-4 at the break and at that stage they were looking comfortable.
However, the Kevins rallied and with a goal from Seanie Crosbie, who scored all but one point of his side's tally, they got back two within three points. However, Glyde remained solid defensively in the closing ten minutes and added two late points to seal the win.
